Running and chaser stage, being one of the most distinct phases of Twin Flame journey, is also the most tumultuous one. It is created by the lack of psychological and spiritual maturity in one or both individuals. Since developing healthy, balanced relationship can only be achieved between fully matured people who are able to understand and accept other person as they are, not influenced by old belief systems, projections and illusions. One has to comprehend psychological blocks and walls that led to the separation in the first place.
It is not uncommon to switch the roles between runner and chaser. People who take a role of a runner in a connection run from the fear of the relationship. The are often confused by the connection and are afraid of the confrontation with their own emotions -they are afraid of receiving the love. Little do they know, that the very thing that make them reject the connection in the first place is keeping them in an emotional cage, stopping them from growth. Only when they are ready to face their own shadows and focus on their healing, they will realize two things: 1) that they are worth the love they subconsciously desire, and 2) the only person to is able to give them this love is within their own self.
The role of chaser is characterized by more active behaviors in the connection. They feel the need of emotional connection with their counterpart and they try to control the situation to keep the connection alive. They are afraid of losing the connection, they are afraid of losing the love they experienced, most of the times being more aware of the special nature of the soul bond.
Since the ignition, both people are connected with strong energetic bond, which reflects the emotional state of towards the connection. Strong emotional involvement of the chaser is send as energy towards the runner, which creates even more tension and pushes runner to distance themselves even further from the connection. The dynamic can only be brought into balance once both people are able to maintain neutral energetic position with regards to the connection. That means, that the chaser needs to withdraw emotional attachment towards the runner and surrendering to the process, giving the runner chance to independently do the inner work and achieve the proper level of spiritual and mental maturity which will allow to see the value of the connection.
It is important to recognize, that throughout our journey we have multiple chances to develop deep soul connection which can transform into Twin Flame dynamic. The reason being that if the “original” Twin Flame (person who awaken us to a journey) is not able to continue with the journey with their counterpart for whatever reason, the universe still supports the development an individual soul willing to grow and progress on their spiritual journey. By raising their vibration, they are able to attract another energetic match which achieved similar level of personal maturity and is able to enter the and take part in the Twin Flame connection with more awareness, compassion and understanding of the process.
Playing out the roles of runner and chaser gives a chance to recognize and heal all the trauma, wounds and dysfunctional patterns that were present in their families which were the cause of subconscious unhealthy behaviors that were magnified by the “original” Twin Flame connection. Only when the individual, through their internal work, achieves the proper level of mental, spiritual and emotional development, they stop playing games of running and chasing, begin acting from their heart and focusing on developing the connections that bring them joy and peace, first with themselves, and then with everyone else. This is the most important lesson everyone has to learn as Twin Flames to be ready to achieve the next (and probably most important) stage of the journey – internal union from within, surrendering to the Divine Energies and allowing their life to unfold according to their true soul path.
